Mata Rocks

This small and friendly hotel south of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye is laid-back and quiet, but is just a leisurely stroll from the action of town. The resort features only 11 rooms and six junior suites, so guests are uncrowded and made to feel at home.

A beachfront bar serves delicious tropical drinks, perfect for sipping by the pool or on the beach, and also serves a Continental breakfast and light lunch.

Each room has a beautiful ocean or pool view, air-conditioning and a mini-fridge, and Junior Suites also feature kitchenettes. Rooms are all uniquely decorated in Caribbean colors and are light and airy.

Rooms offer a choice of either one queen or two double beds, and Junior Suites have a king bed plus a couch that opens to a queen bed in the sitting area.

Many tours are available from Mata Rocks. Take a full day trip to dive the legendary Blue Hole, or dive closer to home in the Barrier Reef. Snorkeling and fishing trips are also available - full or half days. Parasailing, sea kayaking, and windsurfing are good bets as well.

A full day trip to Mayan ruins from Ambergris Caye is an exciting mainland adventure. Take a half day trip to the Lamanai ruins, or a tour up the Bomba River to Altun Ha - both unique ways to visit a Mayan site.
